Finding different puppy names from the most common ones can be difficult at first. Most likely because you haven't heard them very much and are hard to think of. No doubt you want some uncommon puppy names that can distinguish your best friend from the crowd.

It is very common to hear a dog by the name of "Max" or "Charlie" being called at your local park.

So it is understandable if you want to be able to call your pooch and not have every other dog come running to you as well.

So how would you come up with unusual puppy names to the norm? You can start by looking at objects around the home, different languages that are not spoken in your home town, names of small towns or places, character names from not so popular books (usually Sci-Fi books are best for this). These are just some of the places to look, the best ones are often found when you think outside the square.

For instance the TV series "Heroes" which has become a popular show has based part of it's story in Odessa Texas. The name "Odessa" has a nice ring to it and not a common name around the fire hydrant. Another example is parts of the Greek Alphabet such as "Alpha", "Omega", "Beta" or "Kappa". If you live in Greece of course this may not be the best choice of name, but in an predominantly English speaking town, it works well.
